MedExpress Opens Newest Center, Partners With Area Medical Center
April 1 2010
MedExpress strengthened its position as western Pennsylvania's
patient-centered urgent care provider today when it opened its
newest center in Tarentum and announced a collaboration with
Alle-Kiski Medical Center (AKMC).
MedExpress Urgent Care, which opened centers in Bloomfied and
Belle Vernon in February, employs more than 400 people in
Pennsylvania and last year treated more than 300,000 people in the
state. The Tarentum location, on 303 East Tenth Avenue, will be the
16th MedExpress center in Pennsylvania and 42nd nationally.
"Providing access to high-quality, affordable urgent care by
focusing on the entire patient experience has been our hallmark
since we opened our first center nine years ago," said MedExpress
Vice President of Development & Marketing, Erich Lipphardt.
"Our newest center allows us to extend that commitment to the
people in Tarentum, Natrona Heights and surrounding
communities."
The partnership with AKMC will center on streamlining referral
processes, providing for a continuum of care and creating open
lines of communication to support best practices and quality
patient outcomes.
"When we talked with the folks at AKMC we found that they cared
about the same things we did and we knew we could work together to
better serve the patients in the region," Lipphardt said. "We are
working together to save time for patients who require follow-up
care or specialty services like orthopedics, cardiovascular
services, physical therapy or other specialty diagnostics. Through
our relationship we will ensure that AKMC and MedExpress better
support patient needs and requests through care coordination and
transparent communication."
HealthGrades, a leading independent healthcare ratings
organization, recently ranked AKMC among the top five percent of
hospitals in the country for preventing mortality and
complications.
"Our quality and safety record aligns nicely with the MedExpress
commitment to quality and satisfaction", said Ned Laubacher, CEO
for AKMC. "Quality and innovation are critical to success in any
health care network. We're excited to work with MedExpress. The
partnership furthers our mission of finding the best solutions to
patient care in the area."
