Flu Outbreaks Now Considered Widespread
February 14 2011
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is now reporting a
widespread influenza outbreak across the country. MedExpress has
seen a spike in reported influenza cases indicating flu season is
on the rise.
"We are seeing an increase in the number of patients who are
showing flu-like symptoms. It's important to know that it's not too
late to receive your flu shot," says Dr. Bryan Stuchell, Chief
Medical Officer, MedExpress Urgent Care. "We want to keep everyone
healthy and are offering free flu shots to everyone aged four and
older. It's our way of giving back to the communities we
serve."
The CDC recommends yearly vaccinations as the first and most
effective step to protect against this disease. This year's vaccine
can help prevent against the three main flu viruses (H3N2,
Influenza B and H1N1).
